Modern Sculpture, Child's Pose - View 1

Gail Glikmann is a scholarship recipient of the prestigious CHOUINARD ART INSTITUTE. She attended CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY NORTHRIDGE and apprenticed under the tutelage of Susan Weinberg. A consummate teacher herself, Glikmann has pioneered the development of numerous art programs both locally and abroad, for organizations like SHERUT LA AM-(a Israeli Peace Corps program), OPERATION HEAD START, and OPTIONS HOUSE for teenage runaways. She recently retired from the UNIVERSITY OF JUDAISM after conducting classes for 25 years. Glikmann has also guided a blind student “with a hands” on sculpture class. From this experience, Glikmann became aware of the need for blind people to touch sculpture. Glikmann has created replicas of original Jewish artwork and objects displayed at the Skirball Museum, which are being used for the visually impaired to enable them to touch and feel.

Glikmann’s work is found in private collections and has been featured in many venues including THE JEWISH FEDERATION, THE INFINITY GALLERY, THE ORLANDO GALLERY, and the JAMES GREY GALLERY (2007 October). Her work can also be seen at the GARDENS of the JEWISH HOME in Tarzana CA and is currently showing at the MARRIOTT HOTEL in Woodland Hills, CA.

Glikmann is a wife and a mother of three and a grand mother of seven. She maintains her sculpture studio in Encino, CA. and works at THE SCULPTURE STUDIO in Santa Monica, CA. and is currently accepting commissions.
